2013 Alumni Awardee: Fred A. Christiansen

Director of Technology (Retired, Deceased) & Consultant, Jacobs Engineering.
BS, Chemical Engineering, 1964.
Fred began his career with Chevron and after three years went to work for Scott Paper. He worked for Scott until they were bought out by Kimberly Clark and at that time he went to work for Jacobs. At Scott he had risen to be in charge of their technology program and he traveled all over the world for Scott. He enjoyed the company and would probably have stayed if the buyout did not happen. He enjoyed his time at Jacobs Engineering. After retiring from Jacobs, he pioneered a consulting business, FAC Consult, which he contributed to until his death in 2012.
While working for Scott Paper on one of his stints in Philadelphia Fred picked up an MBA at the Wharton School.
Fred felt he was extremely well prepared at WSU. It is readily apparent how much of an influence Dr. Austin had on Fred. He said he felt his education matched up very well with anyone he encountered during his career.
