2000 Alumni Awardee: Jim Lafferty

BS, Chemical Engineering, 1944.
Jim, currently a consultant with UOP Inc., retired after a long career at Unocal Corporation. While at the Unocal Research Laboratory, he was instrumental in developing the catalytic hydrocracking process, which is now used by over 150 petroleum refineries throughout the world. He has personally “started up” over 50 hydrocrackers and is acknowledged as one of the world’s leading engineering experts on hydrocrackers.
