Safety Badge Program

Undergraduate students working in a VSCEB laboratory have the opportunity to earn a WSU digital badge recognizing their proficiency in experimental laboratory safety practices in chemical engineering or bioengineering.

Earning Criteria

  1. Complete a safety orientation provided by a VSCEB faculty or staff member
  2. Complete hands-on, in-person laboratory training
  3. Pass all required online training modules
  4. Demonstrate at least 75 verified hours of laboratory experience by completing one of the following:
    • Earn a grade of C or better in CHE 432
    • Earn an S grade in 2 credits of CHE/BE 499 in an experimental laboratory
    • Earn a grade of C or better in BE 325 and complete 38 hours of experimental laboratory research or 1 credit of CHE/BE 499
    • Complete 75 hours of paid or volunteer research in a VSCEB experimental laboratory
