Allison McDonald, Global HR Director at The Dow Chemical Company, received the 2019 Gene and Linda Voiland School of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering Alumni Award in recognition of her service to the industry and the school.

Washington State University researchers are studying how to use cellulose nanocrystals to insulate sensitive trees and buds against the cold. The team is led by horticulturist Matt Whiting and engineer Xiao Zhang. Their research was recently featured in Good Fruit Grower Magazine.

Appiture and students Lars Neuenschwander (Bioengineering) and TJ Goble (Neuroscience), both Frank Scholars, won 2nd place and a $10k prize for best digital product at the University of Washington Health Innovation Challenge.
